Notes for JOHANNES KOLB:

From "The Kolbs-Some Roots and Branches" -by Ruby Peters and Doris G. McGrew:Jacob Kolb (4t h Child of Johannes)-the following named Kolbs of the second or third generation in SC are pr esumed to have been grandsons of Johannes Kolb by one of his 5 sons, the most often mentioned possibility being Jacob Kolb..although Tillman Kolb may have had offspring and the others may have had sons not definitely identified in wills, etc. (There is also the chance, discredited by strong traditions of holding to the name, that some may have been grandsons of Hans Casper Kolb by, for example, his first son Augustin Culp). The first 3 below are known to hav e been brothers, and the first 4 are believed to have been:1. James Kolb, Sr. of York Co., S C b. abt. 1740, d. May 18072. Harmon (Herman?) Kolb-Chester, SC3. Joseph Kolb-Abbeville Dis trict, SC4. Jonathan Kolb, b. SC5. Jehu Kolb, b. 1758, d. May 2, 1844.
