We thank you...John
Darrah, the past and future
president
of our Homeowners Association
We have been so very fortunate to have someone with John Darrah's
experience and credentials to oversee the transition from Developer to
Homeowners. He has a degree in Civil Engineering from West Point
(yes, a ring knocker) as well as experience as an entrepreneur to enable
him to understand the complicated contracts and codes that had to be dealt
with to benefit all of us. And... contrary to his own opinion, he
has the ability to bulldog an issue on the one hand and the tact and
personality to work with the rest of us who have great gaps in our
understanding on these issues on the other.
...Mary Darrah deserves special recognition for her efforts as
head of the Landscaping Committee. She is a Master Gardener and
interior designer and has guided the development of our garden with great
skill and a true vision. As longtime Panama City residents, she and
John have known whom to call for what job and have it done right.
Also elected at our annual meeting for membership on our Board of
Directors was Mary Sowell. Mary has chaired the Rules and
Regulations Committee into which the Architectural Committee was included.
Mary did a wonderful job getting together the Hurricane preparedness plans
and has maintained her conservative stance toward personal additions to
the public areas. While many of us might initially disagree, the
fact is our facade has not been "junked up" like some other condos have.
High standards for "our home" are a good thing.
There is a
run-off between Patti Leavins and Sara Ross. We appreciate these
people offering themselves to serve the rest of us. All of us
benefit from the truly high caliber of individuals in our community who
actually accept responsibility for keeping our beautiful facility in great
shape.
