Burson, Ramsey, Gillis, Jernigan, Cotton, Black, Adams, Oates, Lindsay, Hawkins, Dowling, Hawthorne, Wardlaw pictures are scattered throughout. Some pictures have been selected because they tell a story.
To my readers:
Little did I know when I got my Masters in history that I would be using it in such a personal way. My mother guilted me into gathering her genealogy into an organized manner. Now, she acknowledges she created a monster. All that I discovered was fascinating to me…but everyone else’s eyes glazed over. How could I present the information in an interesting manner? Add food to any gathering and you’ve got a winner. Ergo…our recipes.
I could have simply distributed copies to my family…and truly intended to do just that…as my “letters” to my children. But there are others out there who have sought pictures of some of these ancestors just as I have and this is a way to share these pictures with others.
This family has “roots” in the earliest history of this country. This CD focuses mainly on their involvement in the state of Alabama.
The cookbook can be read through Microsoft Word. The genealogy CD is a GED file that can be imported into just about any genealogy program.
Sincerely, Sharman Ramsey
